More action on Turkey
Kiraz Bicici, Chair of the Istanbul branch of the Turkish Human Rights Association, IHD, has been sentenced to 3 years in gaol as supporter of PKK, because of a TV interview. However, Kiraz is personally known to AI colleagues and is not a supporter of the PKK or any other armed faction. She has worked peacefully as a human rights defender for some time. Amnesty is researching this conviction and if she is imprisoned (currently her case is going to the Court of Appeal) it is likely that she will be a Prisoner of Conscience.
