3. Treasurer’s Report

See attached. After annual subs for ‘05/06 given at this meeting and expenses deducted for speaker meetings, events and Fairtrade Guide production, we should have nearly £250 in our account.

4. Elections

Elected Julian C as Treasurer and Sue W as Secretary. Beth stood down as Chair and there were no new offers to replace her so agreed to rotate the Chair, each host for the monthly meeting to agree an agenda and chair that meeting.

5. Edinburgh 2 July - Make Poverty History Demo

Most people unable to attend this so considered joining  the Christian Aid alternative to cooincide with it here in Cambridge - wrapping Great St Mary’s church in white. Details from Anne Cooper.

6. WDM Reps Form 15 May

Aidan attended and reported back that WDM is considering whether to drop the Debt campaign. We felt it would be a mistake to stop pressing for Debt cancellation when progress is being made.

7. Contacting New MP

Sue to contact David Howarth our new MP and arrange to see him at his surgery to discuss debt cancellation, reinvigorating HIPC, water campaign and Foreign Direct Investment. We would welcome more direction from WDM HQ on how we can best campaign on these areas.

8. Next meeting will be on 15 June Aidan & Clare’s – Clare to Chair

After that the following meetings will be 20 July at Beth’s and 21 Sept at Frank’s.
