Wukro Children’s Village

Water Report  - July 2009

After the ill-timed breakdown of the two water pumps, anyone who visited Elshadai Wukro and/or received a report on the Children’s Village, most certainly had an earful on the desperate need for water. The scarcity of water undoubtedly made it extremely difficult for the Village to survive, as the 11 hectare farm is heavily dependent on the borehole irrigation water.

But help came from a familiar place. Indeed, once again, Friends of Ethiopian Children in Need (FECIN), a U.K. based grassroots and not-for-profit organization, stepped up to the plate by fully funding the placement of one of the two water pumps thereby making the farm and other activities in the Village fully functional.

Below are photo samples that speak volumes about FECIN’s gift of life. And it goes without saying that the children, staff and volunteers at Wukro, not to mention the land, are grateful to FECIN, and will remain indebted to this caring organization that has been there for Wukro every step of the way. May God bless FECIN’s work and may their supporters and donor partners recognize the tremendous contribution FECIN has been making in Elshadai’s endeavours to bring a positive difference in the lives of children and communities in need.
