FIXTURE LIST WITH LINKS TO MEMORABLE GAMES

After a fairly extensive shake-up, Panthers found themselves in a truly British league and would face the big-guns of the day, Dundee, Murrayfield & Durham in league encounters.
It turned out to be a disappointing season, after a shaky start Panthers found their form in October and played some of the best hockey in the country. However the last two months were very disappointing. The turning point appeared to be a 9-5 loss to Cleveland, having been leading 5-0. Terry Gudziunas quit as coach and the team appeared to lose confidence as the season progressed. Unrest and disenchantment followed as John Bremner, Andy Linton & Gary Clarson quit the team after being left out of the game against the touring Don Mills Comets team. The Panthers management had however gathered together what was probably the strongest team to play together throughout the eighties, to compete against the Comets. They were called The Nottingham Canadian All Stars. The evening will be long remembered by those who witnessed the entertainment. The game sheet is reproduced here.

Panthers highlights of the year were probably 7-7 draws against Dundee & Streatham and a 6-4 victory against Murrayfield, teams which were at the time a class apart from the Panthers. There are links to the gamesheets from the fixture page.
