| "Rudy" learned to play the game in
Canada, coming to play in Nottingham around 12 or 13yo, for the Juniors.
Making his debut for the Panthers as a 17yo, Randall went on to
represent Panthers with distinction for seventeen years and is one of
the few players to have come up through the British junior system to
play in the Superleague. On Sept 29th 98 Randall hosted a testimonial
game at the Ice Stadium, before a healthy crowd of 1600. He was
absent when the 99/00 season started, having retired. It looked as
though his playing days were over. However with the bench alarmingly
short of numbers, he made a re-appearance, particularly on the PK. When
"Damps" returned Randall's ice time increased and he found
himself on a regular line He retired again at the end of the season to
take up a post in the new arena. His retirement was again short-lived.
When season 2000/01 started, Randall was once again wearing the No.10
shirt. During that season he scored a remarkable hat-trick in Panthers
B&H quarter final away tie to the Manchester Storm. Although
expected to retire again he reappeared for 2001/02. |
| He finally called it a day after seventeen
seasons at the end of 01/02. During it Randall had more or less
iced only on the PK. His final Panthers goal came in the 4-4 play off
game against the Storm on March 17th. Once again he was penalty killing
and the goal was short handed. At the end of the game Randall's No.10
shirt was officially retired. |
