| Steve proved to be a lethal sniper around the net, adept at being in the right place at
the right time to bury any rebounds. Unfortunately for the Panthers he was seldom free
from injury. He first picked up a rib injury in the Bees game on October 10th 98. He
missed five games and on his return he scored 2 goals in Panthers 4-3 away success in the
first game to be staged in the Docklands Arena. After a mere 44 seconds of his second game
back he dislocated a shoulder which required an operation and his season was over. He had
impressed enough in his short stint to be offered a contract for 1999/2000. He didn't
recover sufficiently from surgery though until early November when he returned. It took
him some time to look anything like the player from 98/99 and unfortunately suffered a
broken bone in a foot and was unable to do himself justice as he carried the injury
through the play-offs. He left at the end of the season, only to reappear in the shirt of
the Steelers for 2000/01. |
