| Selmar was brought in after coach Dampier decided that Panthers required more defensive
presence. To do this required the release of one of the existing imports. Fan favourite
Dan Dorian was the unfortunate one to go. This was not initially a popular move with many
fans as Danny, altjough not producing the form of the previous season, was still averaging
three points per game. Selmar went on to win the fans over with consistently solid
displays. Indeed he went on to become a local hero one night when, after the end of a game
against Whitley Warriors, Selmar squared up to league tough guy and regular Panther
forward terroriser, Mike Rowe. Rowe made the first move, Selmar took him off balance,
followed him to the ice and laid Rowe's cheek open with a solid right hander. There was a
new fastest gun in town! |
