| Steve was, IMO, the player of the season for 97/98.
Consistently impressive defensive displays with a number of thunderous
open ice checks marked his opening season with the Panthers. Not the
biggest of defencemen, Steve made up for the lack of inches with his
mobility and aggression. Having played the previous season in a lower
league with the Barons, Steve had to prove that he could perform at the
higher level. He did it with some to spare. He returned for 98/99 and
again turned in a solid season despite spending time out injured. 99-00
was almost a carbon copy of 98/99 for Steve, although for some reason he
fell foul of the refs and picked up a number of 10 & Game pens for
abuse. He wasn't re-signed for 2000/01 and found his way up the M1 to
Sheffield.. |
