Dinner with Owen Money

Nearly 200 members crowded into the room at the Hi-Tide Inn at Porthcawl on September 30, to enjoy a good dinner and listen to Owen Money.

The dinner was excellent, and the bar was busy, as members prepared to enjoy Owen's particular brand of Valleys humour. He told many jokes and anecdotes, the English, the Irish and the Scots all came in for some comments, and he managed to insult everyone in the room - making jokes about people from the Valleys ("That's right, sit them at the back where they can't be a nuisance!") to two separate tables of Caerphilly ladies ("What's the matter, aren't you speaking to them?") and a lady from Cimla, celebrating her 60th Birthday..."It's not often someone from Cimla survives to 60!", but it was all done with good humour, and the gales of laughter from an appreciative audience showed it was taken in good spirit.

It was a very successful evening, and the Board of Trustees is considering making it an annual event. Our grateful thanks to the staff at the Hi-Tide, for an excellent meal, and to Owen Money, for a hilarious evening. Apologies to the audience, as I was laughing so much myself, I didn't get any pictures of people enjoying themselves. If anyone present  took photos of the audience enjoying this uproarious evening, please get in touch with the Webmaster, via Federation House, 01639 881588.
