Airline Simulator 2

PC CD-ROM RRP £99.99 / $149.99
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fly the most realistic flight models ever made for the PC around the whole of Europe and across the Atlantic using highly detailed and accurate scenery. Experience the feel of the aircraft and realistic workload of real world pilots in ATC guided flights through all weather conditions and co-operate with the virtual First Officer who will carry certain actions on your command. Real pilots only need apply for an AS2 command!
Fed up with all 'out of the window fancy graphics' AND NO REAL flying? If it is flying realism you want then Airline Simulator 2 is the simulator you have been waiting for!
Enjoy the most realistic aircraft handling ever achieved on a PC based flight simulation with the totally rewritten flight models of the MD-83, MD-88 and B747-400 aircraft. Three years of research result in highly sophisticated flight equations based on true inertia systems, true airflow calculations, detailed calculations of forces - even down to tyre deformations - that warrant an astonishingly realistic behaviour of the aircraft, both in ground and airborne handling.
Revised atmosphere and grossly enhanced weather effects like wind turbulence, rain and snow as well as runway surface calculations allow realistic ground handling in a steady or gusty crosswind, that take into account dry, wet, snowy or icy runways.
Explore the edges of the aircraft flight envelope ... Want to see whether you can loop or roll your favourite airliner? Good luck! Stress calculations will give you an idea of just when your aircraft disintegrates in the air - however, the aircraft may still be flyable, but you will need to deal with asymmetric lift, asymmetric drag, flamed out engines and much more. If you over-stress the airframe you may loose parts of your wings, slats, flaps, tail-plane or cause engine failures. Touch down hard, and experience the skidding experience with a partly collapsed gear.
Aircraft Abstraction layer (AAL), the technology behind the new flight model, makes flying easy, and teaches the right, real world handling techniques used by real world pilots. You will need to be ahead of your aircraft, that's the key to success in your flying - the inertia of the plane now forces you to think ahead of your aircraft, just as real aircraft do.
AS2 features all systems that the handling pilot will have to deal with, including fully featured Autopilot, Main Control Panel (MCP), Flight Management Computer (FMC), Thrust Computer, Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), Traffic and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and many more systems. You, as Captain, will be relieved from handling other systems by the virtual First Officer, who will take care your workload - as in the real world plane.
Aural Alarms (e.g. GPWS, TCAS, configuration alarms), voice communication with the first officer and improved sounds for touch down, stall warning and other aircraft related sounds have been implemented using real world sounds.
Airline Simulator 2 comes with a 300 page printed manual, including 150 pages of Aerad Airport and ILS charts. In addition, 3 Aerad enroute charts covering Europe and North Atlantic are included as well as laminated checklists for the MD-83, MD-88 and B744.
AS2 feature list in detail:
ATP Rev. E including all original subLOGIC aircraft (B737, B767, B747-357, A320 and Shorts 360), ATP default scenery (covering the USA as at standing 1990) and ATP Continental Scenery (covering USA in detail standing 1993 - formerly known as USA East/West scenery) are included in Airline Simulator 2.
3DAGS V2.0, including all previous 3DAGS features and panels. Red/Green 3D Anaglyph glasses included.
MD-83, MD-88 and B747-400 with totally rewritten flight models (AAL) and new instrument panels. All AAL aircraft are based on real time airflow calculations, mass asymmetry (e.g. fuel imbalance) and force asymmetry (e.g. engine failures) and are calculated for the most realistic aircraft handling ever achieved on a PC based flight simulator.
Accurate Atmospheric Model allowing proper performance of aircraft up to FL500. Weather effects are programmed, such as improved wind and turbulence simulation, rain and snow effects. Even runway surface condition influences braking action!
FMS (Flight Management System), LNAV (Lateral Navigation), VNAV (Vertical Navigation) and CATIII Auto-land, Flight Director, Ground Proximity and TCAS (Terminal Collision Avoidance System) for all the AAL aircraft are included.
Aural alerts for configuration warnings, altitude readouts, GPWS and TCAS, Improved Sounds using real world recordings for engine sounds, wind noise, tire sounds, cockpit background noise via 16 independent digital sound channels. Compatibility with new SoundBlaster Cards (PCI128, SB Live) and ENSONIQ sound card. New ATC and ATIS voices.
Virtual First Officer complementing your system management and supervising you as pilot in command.
Enhanced 256 colour Europe and North Atlantic Scenery. All airfields with appropriate runways in all European countries, including the former Communist bloc, are now included in Europe Scenery, with more than 1600 airfields covered in detail. Data based on WGS. Navigation databases of Europe and NATL based on May 1998 data.
800*600 VESA Graphics and 640*400 VESA fully Win95/98 compatible (Mach32, S3, Mach64 accelerator drivers for 800*600 included, but requiring AS2 to run under native DOS without Win95/98 active), supporting most graphics boards available.
Multiplayer via IPX Network, up to 4 planes can see each other in the external visuals as well, with proper TCAS simulation. Scenery Viewer (called Ernie) allowing viewing of AS2 and ATP scenery and useable as radar screen for AS2 multi-player via network (only via a network).
Airline Simulator 2 comes as a stand-alone package with an easy installation under DOS and Win95/98.
