Richard Heber's books can often be recognised by his rectangular ink stamp 'BIBLIOTHECA HEBERIANA', added, according to Marc Vaulbert de Chantilly (lecture, 26/11/00), probably by Thomas Frognell Dibden, in only the more valuable books; or by the neat excision where it has been cut from the top right-hand corner of the first flyleaf.

He did not always use the ink stamp however, and he often made an acquisition note in characteristic small handwriting:
