The first meeting of the Founders was held on 20 August 1993 when it was reported that 25 members wished to sign the petition and that Socrates had agreed to sponsor the Lodge. It was agreed that the would be called Meridian, that it would meet three times per year and that W.Bro Basil Dixon would be the first Master. Following subsequent meetings of the founders, among other proposals receiving approval were that ladies would be invited to the Festive Board following the October and January meetings (not the Installation) and that it be a No Smoking Lodge.
Approval was received from Grand Lodge and following the opening of a Lodge at Kettering on Friday 29th April 1994 by W. Bro O N N Hart PSGD, the Assistant Provisional Grand Master, Meridian Lodge No 9542 was constituted and consecrated by R W Bro H Brian Smith, the Provincial Grand Master in the presence of 117 brethren.
R W Bro R S E Sanbach PPrGM then installed W.Bro Basil Dixon as the first Master of the lodge. The Worshipful Master then invested W Bro D C G Butler PAGDC as the first IPM. W Bro Rollett PPrGReg (Cambs) was declared Treasurer and the two designated Officers W Bro G E Bonham PPrGStwd was invested as senior Warden and Bro K Brown as Junior Warden following which other Officers were appointed and invested.

Following discussion between Grand Officers in the Huntingdon locality, regarding the possibility of a new day time lodge in Huntingdon, a meeting of prospective founders was held at The Priory on 7th July 1993. Twenty four brethren were present and W.Bro Basil Dixon was elected Chairman for the meeting.
