38th Club Newsletter December 2007
If reading this on the internet try turning the sound on and refreshing the page.
Once again apologies for the reduced number of newsletters however there are still only so many hours in the day.
A lot has been happening to the club and its members much of which can be found on the website. Please remember to visit the "Whats New" page which list the main additions to the site as they happen.
The Annual Presentation and Disco was another sell out and everyone who attended will confirm that it was once again a very good evening. All the Under 11's who competed in the Cheshire League received their Winners trophies as did the Club Record Breakers and those who won the various other club awards. Due to the evening being a sell out not everyone has received their trophies. If you think you are due a trophy can you see Peter Hallam (under 11's and Club records) or Alan Cooper (other trophies). Members were also treated to a Windows Movie presentation of our members exploits. Once again this was set to music and got the evening off to a good start.
There were a lot of awards made however special mention should be made of Sam Tattums Under 11 Platinum Award (Sam is the first member to achieve this and to mark the occassion received a special trophy together with a prize which we hope he will treasure for years to come) and of the award for Sports Personality of the Year which went to Matthew Jamieson.
It is with great pleasure I can announce that 5 of our Under 11 girls, (Robyn Saunders, Hollie Barnes, Jennifer Hargreaves, Charlie Jones and Ellie Brackenridge) recently competed in the Year 5 National Schools Biathlon North West Qualifer (representing Ellenbrook School) and came away as winners and hence qualified for the National Final in Bath in February. Not only that but Robyn and Hollie finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the Individual Race. Well done girls.
Please note the last training night before Christmas is Thursday 20 December after which there will be no training sessions until Thursday 3rd January. On behalf of the Club I trust everyone will have an enjoyable Christmas.
The cross country season continues apace. All Salford Primary School results are being published on the web site and can be found at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.hallam3/SC078.htm In past years we have published our members results here, but there are now so many of our members involved its a nightmare of a job to ensure everyone gets mentioned. As such rather than repeat everything here please visit the pages on the web site which include a vast array of photographs.
What I would say though is that our members are again filling many of the medal positions but the strength in depth that we have can be evidenced by the fact that in the second race of the season for Year 5/6 girls 17 of the top 20 places were filled with Salford Mets athletes. well done to you all.
Results of our members from the recent Gill Pimblott Memorial Fun Run held at Gin Pit Village were (in their respective age groups) Robyn Saunders 1st, Hollie Barnes 2nd & Elliott Barnes 9th.
And finally if you want to receive an E Mail notification whenever a new newsletter is published on the web sites please send your E Mail address to Salfordmets@ntlworld.com and we will send notifications to you.
