Many thanks are due to Sarah Jones, Monica Yakiah and Lynn Powell who have volunteered to take the register for the 6-30pm session. We are very greatful for this much needed assistance. Will all athletes please remember to leave your name before going onto the track.
We still need more coaches at 6-30 even more so once you read the announcement below. If there is anyone interested in becoming a coach or even helping out the existing coaches please see one of the Club Officials.

It is with great sadness that we must announce that in the next few months Tom will be leaving the Coaching Team. Tom has had arguably the hardest job of all the coaches as for the last few years he has coached our youngest athletes. Twelve months ago Tom took up a new job in Huddersfield and has been commuting ever since and whilst this is an acceptable journey in Summer the dark Winter nights are very tiring and hence he has taken the decision to relocate in Yorkshire. I think it has been fantastic that Tom has managed to make most 6-30 training sessions after his long drive home. You will be sadly missed Tom.

Please note the last training night before Christmas is Thursday 21 December after which there will be no training sessions until Thursday 4th January. On behalf of the Club I trust everyone will have an enjoyable Christmas.

The cross country season continues apace. At the 2nd of the races we put on for local schools there was a change in the order of the Year 6 girls race as many had been involved in a netball tournament and missed our first race.

The race was run in terrible conditions with the wind blowing a gale and special mention should go to Harry Stevenson, Alex Ratcliffe, Lucy Matthews, Louise Wilson, Abigail Parry, and Robyn Saunders who had already run in the Salford Schools Cross Country in the morning.

The Salford Schools Cross country sees local schools compete in 5 races throughout the Winter with the best four results counting towards the end of season awards. Our own Jack Carney acts as the hare in many of these races even though he often has a race himself later in the day. Historically our members do very well in these races and from the following results it looks as though that trend is to continue this season.

Year 5/6 Boys 2nd Joseph Greene, 3rd Sam Tattum, 7th Harry Stevenson, 12th Samuel Jones, 21st Lewis Uzokwe, 30th Cameron Cooper, 38th Reis Tobolski
Year 5/6 Girls 1st Lucy Matthews, 2nd Leah Niven, 3rd Lucy whittaker, 4th Olivia Madden, 5th Louise Wilson, 6th Kelly Lowe, 7th Jemnny Matthews, 8th Zoe Lowe, 9th Geogia Smith, 11th Abigail Parry, 12th Holly Emerson, 13th Abigail Casson, 16th Savanna Saunders, 23rd Charlotte Field, 24th Elizabeth Davies, 25th Holly Nuttall, 28th Kirsten Reader, 29th Hannah Powell, 39th Emily Johnson, 46th Hannah Royle, 47th Hannah Meskell.

The 3rd and Final Salford Mets School Cross Country race saw the medals decided and our members took their fair share:-
Year 6 Girls - Gold, Megan Lowe - Silver, Lucy Whittaker - Bronze, Louise Wilson Year 7 Girls - Gold, Ashleigh Bamber Year 7 Boys - Gold, Jack Evans - Silver, Jack Tattum - Bronze, Myles Barton Year 8/9 Girls - Silver, Bethany Saunders - Bronze, Rebecca Parry Year 10/11 Girls - Gold, Rebecca Vanden - Silver, Zoe Leighton Year 10/11 Boys - Gold, Danny Hill.

And finally the second of the Salford Schools races which was run in very wet conditions produced some excellent races with more of our athletes appearing well up the rankings than ever before. This was particularly evident in the Year 5/6 Girls race where our members filled the top 9 places and only 2 athletes in the top 19 were not a Mets member. Well done everyone
