Dunkerque, France. 14 Aug 1991.
The first place in the selection is Dunkerque which I visited as an alternative destination when my wife and I stayed in Ramsgate in Kent some years ago. Just a day trip by ferry we naturally made our way to the church and the market square. These pictures show the west end of the church with its beautiful large rose window and standing opposite is its detached tower. Nearby stands the war memorial to the partisans who took part in the resistance in the second world war whilst looking out from the west end of the church to the tower one sees the war memorial which commemorates both the first and second world wars.
