Most people warm up before playing a match or doing a work-out in the gym, to prepare the muscles for action, but the vocal muscles don’t get the same treatment.

They are expected to  work every time they are used to make a presentation, run a day’s training course or give a performance, without any warming up first.

No wonder they protest!

‘After a stressful presentation, my voice feels tight and sore’ Your voice will stand up to the rigours of a few hours constant use if you do a few exercises to warm up first, and prepare it for action.  These are very simple and can be done virtually anywhere!

By following good practice you could achieve peak performance starting with the first sentence.

The lips and tongue are extremely important speech organs, as they shape the sounds into words, so saying a few tongue twisters will help to make vowels clearer, and consonants sharper.

Warm up exercises help to reduce tension – an enemy to good voice production!

Certain foods and drinks can affect how your voice works, so adopting good vocal health practices will make a difference to your voice.
