When we are born, we know how to use our voices instinctively to command attention.

As we grow older we acquire habits and tensions which inhibit
the workings of the vocal mechanism.

I speak too quickly’  -  a lot of people speak quickly naturally, but when we are nervous we speed up even more.  There is a desire to get it all over and done with as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, nobody benefits from this, as the speaker is not satisfied with his delivery, and the audience has not had enough time to take in and remember much of what has been said.

By practising techniques to speak at a slower pace, you will be able to make sure your speech is clear, put greater emphasis on key words or phrases, and allow your audience time to hear, assimilate and remember what you have said.

Speakers who take their time with delivery, sound much more confident and authoritative.
