Ethiopia

One of the least developed Countries in the World but surely one of the friendliest. Ethiopia is a beautiful country with the extreme contrast between abject poverty and 21st Century technology. IFM's work has been focused on unleashing the potential of enterprise.

Project 1

We ran a capacity building programme aimed at introducing the benefits of the UNIDO integrated programme. Working closely with our national counterpart the Quality Standards Authority of Ethiopia (QSAE) we introduced the techniques to 5 manufacturers. who had applied to be involved in the programme.

Project 2

We organised and lead a 2 week study tour to the UK that was designed to investigate the requirements for the rapid introduction of ISO9000 to Ethiopia and the necessary support systems needed for its continued success and affordability. As a result, a route plan was agreed and initial discussions have started with a number of UK organisations.

Project 3

We developed a series of Food Safety, GMP and HACCP training courses specifically intended to help food professionals gain the practical expertise to implement systems within their own enterprise. We worked closely with our National Counterpart and worked with them to gain confidence in delivering the material.  As a direct result, 30 enterprises were given this vital first step to developing acceptable food safety assurance systems.
