Open House London. Visits to sites in East London linked with industrial archaeology. Free entrance but stamina and a packed lunch required.

Theatre visit to see The Odd Couple, (the female version), a comedy by Neil Simon. Starting at 8pm at the Abbey Theatre, Westminster Lodge, St Albans AL1 2DL. Tickets £8.50 if booked after 21 August.

Walk from Bramfield village green (Grid TL 295 155) at 2pm for a two hour walk.

St Albans Beer Festival. Meet 8pm onwards at the Alban Arena.  Admission £2.50.  Up to three hundred real British ales and thirty ciders and perries to try as well as bottled beers from around the world including France, Germany, Poland, Austria and Sri Lanka.

Supper Stagger. Everybody brings a supper dish (main course or dessert), enough to share with 2-3 people. Ian provides the cutlery, plates etc and a baked potato if you’re lucky. Stagger on to Neil’s nearby for pud.

Astronomy Talk inside the Hall, about the night sky and what we might see. Then we step outside and view the heavens with a telescope. If the night is not clear, our speaker has a planetarium and projector to show what should be seen.
