Series IX?
-RD VIII was BBC2's highest rated programme EVER.
-The Beeb want more.
-The cast want to do more.
-The fans want to see more.

So what's the problem then? Well, Doug Naylor wants to focus on the movie, which is set to enter production in May of 2004. If the movie is successful, it is likely that RD will follow Star Trek's example and continue as a series of movies. If the movie is not so successful, Doug will probably return to where VIII left off in a series of television specials. Only time can tell...
