( Chi Sau  )

Chi Sau is used in Ving Tsun as a training tool for positioning and sensitivity of you and your training partner . The art of Chi Sau is to use your positioning and sensitivity to get through their defence and keep yourself from being attacked .

Chi Sau in itself takes years to master and understand in it's entirety . The simplest way to explain Chi Sau would be to look at it as a six month old child would look at a toy . The child does not see a toy as a toy but an object . This object may have different colours , shapes , and different materials as in plastics and metals , and the child may also want to know if it is chewable and does it taste nice . So what's this got to do with Chi Sau ...? Well as the child explores the toy this is how we should explore our training partner . If I do something does this make my training partner do something else ? If I change angle will my training partner do the same if they don't what do I do and so on ?

Chi Sau is also a game of questions the more you answer the better your Chi Sau , by answering these questions you can learn from your mistakes and in the end your Ving Tsun will improve .

Another way to getting answers to your questions in Chi Sau is to Chi Sau with as many people as possible because there is always more than one answer to a solution .

The end result is that Chi Sau is a gate way to explore all possibilities , to make your end result count in the real world . Chi Sau combines all of your forms and moves with your experiences and enables you to put them into action .
