EMAT Camp in The Forest of Dean

Since the group began in July 2003 EMAT members have run many different kinds of events. All of the organisation involved for an event is carried out by group members, either as individuals or in pairs or groups. Many say this is one of the benefits of being an EMAT member - they gain the satisfaction of organising something and watching others enjoy their event.

Our walking/biking/camping/hostelling weekends have been a huge success - heading off to places such as Robin Hood's Bay, the northern Pennine Way, Rutland, the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and even a little village called Kinoulton in South Nottinghamshire.

EMAT Mystery Weekends Abroad are legendary - this is where a member has organised a cheap flight, place to stay and currency and handed out a kit list. The members going on the trip have had no idea where they were heading until they checked in at the airport!
The first of these weekends took place in February 2004 when 9 of us went to Pau, French Pyrenees for a weekend. We had an afternoon's snowshoeing, a morning in Lourdes, snow in Pau and a great time en francais!
Another Mystery Weekend took place soon after - this time 20 members went to stay in 2 sea chalets, braved zip-wires and rope bridges across crashing seas and drank a hell of a lot of wine and vodka! Click here to read all about this trip.

EMAT Walk The Pennine Way

EMAT have seen the New Year in on a self catering break in Warkworth, Northumberland and spent New Year's Day on the seas hunting for seals. Click here to read all about EMAT, the seals and a roast goose.

EMAT members have braved a High Ropes course at Thetford Forest and stayed in Cambridge for the weekend. They have also headed off to the Yorkshire Dales and Wales for Bunkhouse Weekends. We have camped at Rutland water and The Forest of Dean for walking, canoeing and cycling activity weekends - our energetic days topped off with a BBQ and boxes of wine or a pub supper and a few beers. Click here to read all about our camping weekend in the Lakes or here for our trip to Pembrokeshire.

Our less energetic, more social type events have included a Comedy Club night out in Leicester, a trip to the Adventure Travel Show, a night out at a live music gig in Sheffield and a day at Lincoln Xmas Market.
