Maldives

My wife, Lisa and I first went to the Maldives in December 2005 for Christmas and the New Year. Since then we´ve been back every year the same time. Lisa loves the relaxed, away from it all, feeling, she loves to sunbathe and read a book while I´m diving, hopefully this year she will be diving with me. The diving is so varied, every year we have seen Mantas, I´ve yet to see a whaleshark, one day maybe!

I lost my first camera on a dive at Lohifushi, just after taking pictures of 8 nurse sharks sleeping together under a huge rock, I had a faulty lanyard and lost the camera on the surface. I´m sure the sharks found my camera and had a laugh at the photos! Since then we´ve been to Maayafushi and Lily Beach.
We went to Meedhupparu for New Years Eve 2008 and 2009, Unfortunately after only one dive with the camera I damaged it, a week later I managed to get it working but it wasn't firing on all cylinders and the pictures were not very good at all, one of the buttons wasnt working and I could not access a lot of the settings, also I think the lens was damaged as its reaction to light underwater was not good either, together with the fact that it was really sensitive and was very hard to take focussed shots, resulting in a lot of abstract style photos which dont look too bad, if I may say so myself! With the price of the dives at a high of $50 each I decided to only do 7 dives in total and enjoyed the rest of the holiday on land!
