I collect early postcards of the English Lake District and especially postcards showing "Old Lakeland" which I purchase from antique shows, car boot sales and even over the Internet. The majority of the cards here depict scenes taken by G P Abraham & Sons (the Abraham Brothers) of Keswick, Cumberland, and date from the mid 1850's to approximately the 1920's. George (1870-1965) and Ashley (1876-1951) Abraham were pioneer rock climbers and Victorian Lake District photographers, whose skill and daring helped create the sport of rock-climbing.
