In the name of God Amen the twentieth day of May in the eight and twentieth years of the Raigne of our Soverign Lord Charles the Second Anno Dnd 1678 I Richard Chambers of Swaffham in the county of Cambridge and dioiosse of Ely being sicke in body but of perfect minde and memory thanks be given to God therefore doo make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following first I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker having through the meritts of Jesus Christ my saviour to ? free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and as for my body I committ itt to the earth from whence itt was att first taken to be be buried in decent and Christian buriall IMPRIMUS I give and bequeath unto Ann Chambers my beloved wife all that my messuage and tenement in which I dwell with all and singular those appurtennres there unto belonginge and also my land both free and copyhold for and during the terme of her naturall life excepting two acres of copyland one acre lying in the Dale field neere Cambridge Way abutting Swaffham Bulbeck field and the other acre lying in the middle field neer the Choikgh(?) ? said two acres of land Cohtoptinge, the corne upon the land I give unto my sonn John and his heirs for ever upon this conditon that he shall pay unto George Durrant of Ffordham five pounds of lawfull money of England ? ? for the some ITEM I give and bequeath unto my son Richard my three acres of free land lying in the middle field a butting upon Burwell Way and to his heirs for ever after the dereafe of my wife ITEM I give and bequeath unto my sonn George three road of my three halfe acres of land in the Ditch field this south side of it and to his heirs for ever after the dereafe of my wife ITEM I give and bequeath unto my sonne Edward the other three roads of my three halfe acres of land in the Ditch field and to his heirs for ever after the dereafe of my wife ITEM I give and bequeath unto my sonn Samuel five pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid ynto him when he shall attaine to the full age of one and twentie years by my sonn John or his heirs or or assignes which if my said sonn his heirs or assignes shall ? to doo ITEM I give my said sonn Samuel my acre of land in the middle field lying next the Chotkor and to his heirs for ever ITEM I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary halfe an acre of land (that is to say) on other roade and one half roode a buttinge upon Baston to her and her heirs for ever After the dereafe of my wife all the rest of my goods whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Ann Chambers my beloved wife paying unto George Durrant five pounds and all other debts and funerall charges. In wittness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seale the the day and yeare first above written that mark of Richard Chambers sealed acknowledged in the ? of Thomas Barber and James Sharpe
