LISVANE
The grant applications for the new section have been approved by Cardiff CC.
On Sundat, 1st October - a dry day(!) - 3 of us met and went to start clearing on the new route. It was quite satisfying as there are just marks on trees, and we just cut a swathe from tree to tree.
The Probationary Service were hoping to get some manpower out there but, with the bad weather, they may not have. Another job that will have to be the Spring, the way things are going.
WALNUT TREE LINE
SAFE has had meetings and walked the track with Sustrans, and a separate horseroute WILL run parallel to the tarmaced cycleway.
TOLL RIDES
Work on this scheme is still progressing. SAFE has recently applied for a grant to purchase the business plan etc. from the Toll Ride group in Sussex.
Then a separate charitable group will be set up.
Also permission has been given by the old British Rail to use the disused bridge across Llantrisant Road.
FFOREST FAWR
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. From the moment the work started, it has rained and rained, and in two of the areas surfaced, we have lost the stonedust.
To look on the bright side, however, the extensive flat area is wonderful. One or two trees are down on the back track nearest Ty Rhiw but can be ducked under. Olease let us know if any more.
This work has so far cost £2,000 - and we haven't finished yet.
There are still many riders who are not members. If you meet riders in there - tell them who has done the work, and that we want their £5 a year.
RADYR and PENTYRCH
Alongside A470 to Tongwynlais
Work is well in hand tarmacing the new cycleway from the roundabout to Tongwynlais. SAFE has been assured by Sustrans that the will be NO barrier, and we can ride it.
Forest Farm Permissive Route
One or two waymarkers seem to have disappeared on this route. We will contact the warden.
Graig-y-Parc Woods
We have again spoken to Cardiff about this track!! Pentyrch Community Council are also concerned and together we will pressure Cardiff, after Christmas.
SAFE did say that they would pay and have work done, but were told no.
Cardiff CC have received an application for planning permission for an assault course in adjoining woodland.
Pantawel Tracks
Very muddy, but clear. The tree down on the stoney path was cleared by Colin Champ. Many Thanks
