Scroll down or use Fast Choice Thank you to all those who attended our skittles gathering on 21st May, 2001. Chris Powell of Cardiff CC received a BHS "Good Guy" award for all the work he has done in the Cardiff area. Many thanks to those who turned up for the Working Party on Saturday, 7th April, 2001. Note more volunteers needed Please note that the forestry is extracting wood along part of the horse route. Please take care Work on surfacing the few remaining muddy bits is continuing. This is mainly thanks to the generous donation of nearly 60 tonnes of limestone bindings from RMC Aggregates Ltd. The movement of such a large quantity of material would not have been possible without drivers and machinery supplied by Caerphilly Countryside Services. Many thanks to them and RMC for this help. There is one steepish section on the route and we are looking to reduce the slope by cutting an "s" path across the gradient - should be done this week - unfortunately this involves hire of machinery and more expense. The Forestry have asked that riders take particular care when riding along the furthest section as logging is currently taking place. Couple of members have been out with loppers removing a couple of troublesome branches and undergrowth. Two small trees blocking the route have also been removed in Fforest Fawr. Following lobbying the council are looking at the provision of horse warning signs on Heol y Fforest and we are hoping to improve the crossing into Fforest Fawr. Complaints have been received about riders. Please ride with consideration for other users. Cantering in poor visibility is asking for trouble! Metal Horse-Walkovers (Lisvane) Pam met with Peter Burke of Forest Enterprise on 21st February, 2001. The metal is being replaced by wooden sleepers, in the next few weeks. Any comments, good or otherwise, regarding the work done to the bridlepath over Rudry Common - to Trisha, please. |
