Dalek Construction Photos

After finding the Project Dalek workshop manual on how to build a Dalek I got the idea to build a radio controlled half size Dalek. I've still got that idea, but what I ended up doing was building a 30cm miniature Dalek.

It's made from a cardboard shell, covered with newspaper and PVA, which I painted and glossed with a layer of PVA. Using an old baby monitor of which I hooked up the microphone end to a jack plug and put into the computer I was able to make the Dalek speak! I used recordings I found at the Dr Who WAV Archive and a handy little programme called Scarfmod I could get great Dalek-type voices!
