Thanks to the "verse"atile Meriel for this review of the 2004 Christmas gig.

Twas a week before Christmas
Black Friday they say,
But folks that have sense
It's sober they'll stay.
For tonight there's a party
Of a different kind,
Though still ale an' mince pies
For those so inclined.
Our purpose this evening
Is not to go daft,
But to be entertained
By the best at their craft.
That the playing is grand
There can be no deniance,
Piano, guitar
And a two-bob appliance.
The melodeon's there,
The fiddle an' all,
As Merry is made
With Fradley's grand ball.
The marvellous crowd
Is full of good cheer,
Paying hearty respects
To the Barley Mow's beer.
There's poems and ditties
Some in the vernac'lar,
And 'For you Spanish Ladies'
We find most spectac'lar.
Some songs are quiet
Song songs are jolly,
And with a nod to the season
There's e'en Buddy Holly.
We pay our respects
To those ne'er forgotten,
Like the Derbyshire Ram
Whose luck was so rotten.
Old Big 'Ead, Old Blue Eyes,
John B. and John Clare,
John Gibson, Chic Murray
And some bloke called Blair.
And when funny bones are tickled
As far as they'll go,
They're tickled some more
By Marriott's Joe.
Now mirth is a marvel
At lifting the heart,
And persuading good souls
With their pennies to part.
So thanks to the efforts
Of many a hand,
For the sporty of Belper
The prospects are grand.
So whom do we thank
For this marvellous night,
For the music and singing
In which we delight?
For the quips and the quirks
For the wit and the class,
To that Coope boy and Tams one
Let's all raise a glass!
