Computer Processing of Remotely-Sensed Images was first published in 1987. A Second Edition (1999) was the first remote sensing text to include a CD containing image processing software and example digital images. The Third Edition (April 2004) extends the scope of the text, with a new chapter covering recent developments in the handling of SAR interferometric data, lidar data, and imaging spectrometer data.

The book is accompanied by a CD that contains:

• a much-extended version of the MIPS software (MS Windows)
• example images for class/project use
• four advanced exercises, including full data sets, contributed by Dr Magaly Koch, Center for Remote Sensing, Boston University.
