Tiny women's razor produced c1960-c1970. Simple, sculptural shape, dominated by 'jewel' studded gold foil feature - effect is both luxurious and kitsch. Two-part ivory plastic casing, compact enough to slip into handbag, make-up bag or vanity case. Gold effect-finish double-sided cutting head for legs and under-arms. White gloss board carton with red velvet-effect inside moulding. Earlier versions known as 'Crown Jewel'.

Well-made razor in dull green/ivory plastic with foil cleaning head. Red on/off switch. Sturdy snap-case covered in textured vinyl (ivory/green) resembling contemporary portable record players. 'S' = shaver. Same basic design as Morphy-Richards razor.

Large, heavy and solidly-made razor with unusual styling. Foil cutting head, released via two clear acrylic puttons in either side. Ivory plastic casing clipped together with chrome-plated steel ring at base and clips hidden under foil assembly.

First rechargeable razor. Razor plus recharging unit/stand. One full day on charge to completely charge up. Styling identical to 1959 Roll-a-Matic, but with taller body. Adjustable rollers via sliding badge with indicator. White urea plastic and acrylic. Gold effect trim. Dark brown imitation leather box. Lektronic II in 1962 for mains operation (corded) or rechargeable (cordless).

Luxury version of cheaper model EBA1 but in dark blue plastic with embossed metal foil inserts. Red on/off switch and voltage change, grey flex. Packaged in grey snap-case. Tested in 'Which' razors review, December 1962, illustrated in Drivers mail order catalogue, 1960. Registered design 899330, 1961).

Sleek, rakish design, beautifully made, one-piece white melamine plastic body and lift-out components. Reciprocating triple cutter and flip-open foil head for access, similar to aircraft cockpit. Flight imagery continued in logo/graphics. Voltage adjustment and flex insert on side panel. Complex foil design incorporates differing apertures and edges for a variety of shaving/trimming functions. An effective razor.

Next stage of development of twin-cutter 'Philishave' just prior to launch of all-new triple-cutter. Two-tone white/sand plastic body with ridge. Removable twin 'floating heads' via push-button flip-open side panels (also for cleaning). Removable flex, voltage adjustment.

Replacement for model 810, retaining 'super-trim' feature. Based on contemporary Braun razor. Large foil cutting head with side trim function mounted in cast alloy block, blue and white urea plastic body, acrylic head cover. Dark blue snap case with blue velvet and cream satin lining.

Replacement for 'Roll-a-matic' model and model 25. New, 'sheerline' styling in black plastic with polished alloy trim, anticipating 'black box' styling of 1980s. Large padded section in black vinyl on both sides (from model 25). Clever six-stage adjustment via stepped rotating knob: 1-4 provide closeness control, 5 for trimming, 6 raises head and lowers side covers for blow-cleaning.. Tiny but evocative sheerl-line graphic, typical of early-mid 1960s. Included in Consumers' Association tests of electric razors in 'Which', December 1965 and 1969. Black flex and padded zip-up pouch.

Update to model 555 with new, rakish design, in one-piece cream nylon plastic body and lift-out components. Double-head with triple reciprocating cutter and flip-open foil head for access. Additional trimmer on side edge. Voltage adjustment and flex insert on side panel. Styling is typical of mid-60s USA, using images of space and flight.

First triple-head Philips razor, launched world-wide. Cast alloy deltoid head with three 'floating head' rotating cutters, snap-off action for cleaning. Ivory-white plastic casing. Separate beard trimmer slides into action on top. Voltage change in base. Early example of razor with plastic-coated coiled flex. Large grey PVC on steel/chrome edged case with blue velour lining. Basis of all subsequent Philishave razors.

Successor to early 1960s twin-head Envoy model. Very dark green plastic body, crisper styling with textured sides for grip (as 1966 model as SC8130) but basically same ergonomic format as earlier models. Twin ‘floating heads’ accessible via push-button flip-up top (also for cleaning). Removable flex, voltage adjustment. Early example of razor with plastic-coated coiled flex.

Braun Sixtant S model 5 510

Well-designed and substantial razor, developed from Braun (Ronson) models of mid-1950s (see Ronson). Same generation as Ronson Rechargeable RS75. Heavy cast alloy cutting head with brushed finish, foil cutting surface, injection moulded acrylic (?) body. On/off switch on side, circular switch on front activates side-trimmer. Presented in padded case with mirror insert inside lid with brush and straight flex.

Early rechargeable razor with separate charging unit that plugs into the razor when charged. Corded use of razor not possible. Standard Ronson foil head and side trimmer, developed from 1954 model 810. Large soft plastic head cover. Neat, clean design in dark blue-green plastic and white details/accessories. Blue-green paper covered carton with felted styrene insert. Patent application 1971, registered design and royal warrant. Design based on Braun model.
