The Brian Boru Club which is a member of the Irish Democratic League of Great Britain was founded in 1891 by a group of Irish immigrants and is has been on this site ever since. Its aims then was to help the Irish community and our elderly people and these are still our aims today. Over its 115years it has had to overcome many problems and indeed in the forties they couldn't even sing an Irish song in there. But, with the perseverance of the members it has survived all the problems and is now a vibrant and important part of the community in the North West of England.

Among the many activities in the club we have Irish Dancing Lessons for beginners every Tuesday night run by the Herring-Clarke School of Dancing. We have music lessons for both young people and adults every Thursday night. We have live bands every Saturday night and Sunday nights we have live music volunteer singers and Ceilidh dancing with a dance teacher. This is a very friendly and social evening and everybody is assured of a traditional Irish welcome.

Among the highlights of the year is our annual St Patrick's Day Mass in the club followed by our parade. Its a very colourful occasion with a pipe band and our dancers their traditional dresses. Our celebrant is Reverend Cannon MacNally who has celebrated our mass with us for the past 5 years. He is a native of Luisborough, County Mayo and has been a priest in the Liverpool diocese for over 40 years and is our Chaplin.

We have a committee of 10 people and 4 trustees who help to keep the club running in an efficient manner. We currently have approximately 400 members
