THE PROSPECTORS AT THE STAR.

The theme was country at the Star, Fenay Bridge on Thursday 23rd May, as new local band The Prospectors played their brand of country music to a good size crowd. The band have only been playing together for a few months, but have already put together a good number of well known classic country hits from the likes of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, John Denver and Hank Williams, plus more modern songs from Billy Ray Cyrus and Steve Earle which they deliver with enthusiasm. There was also the opportunity to show off the talents of banjo/bass player Trevor Agus with his virtuoso renditions of classic banjo tunes such as Foggy Mountain Breakdown and Duellin' Banjo's. This was backed up by some fine all-round performances by Kev Jones on drums, Nick Carter on acoustic guitar and bass, Peter Woodward on lead guitar, banjo, fiddle mandolin, and Simon Goldthorpe on lead vocals and guitar. They play a number of songs for the crowd to join in with, which they did with gusto!

The Prospectors not only supplied the music for the evening but also a number of stage props, such as the 'still' and 'the beast', and were prepared to get dressed up for the event, which all added to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the crowd.

All in all it was an enjoyable evening from start to finish and The Prospectors shall be repeating the event in the not too distant future. For any more information on the band and for booking enquiries call Peter on 01484 304231 anytime.
