Tenshin Tsurugi Ryu was formulated from one mans lifetime study of the sword. Steven Dalrymple has studied many forms of sword and made several types of sword from various materials. His main influence came from the art Goshin Jutsu which he studied for more than 20 years. This has helped him to develop a style that is popular and challenging for everyone who has decided to study the art.
Dalrymple Kyoshi moved from England to New Zealand in the summer of 2002, but has kept contact the current instructors and continues to improve and develop new ideas. Judd Renshi has now contributed to this ever evolving system with the addition of the Naginata syllabus. This has now been fully integrated and runs side by side with the existing sword syllabus.
At the present time Dalrymple Kyoshi and Judd Renshi are developing the syllabus at the higher levels of the art. The aim is to incorporate the use of the long and short sword which will open the door to more solo kata and pair kata.
