Comments: I am probably a bit biased on this one as it is my local reptile shop and I worked here for a year, but I think Cambridge Reptiles is an excellent place. The owner, Neil Harris, is very helpful (when he has the time!) and some of the animals he stocks are amazing! At the time of writing, as well as the common reptiles such as leopard geckos, bearded dragons and corn snakes, also in the shop - although not all for sale - are Timor pythons, Gould's monitors, Madagascan tree boas and lots more, as well as Cassie the iguana. Overall a very good shop and definitely worth visiting if you are in the area (or even travelling to visit as there are not many shops as good as this).
Pros:
  • A large shop with one of the biggest selections of herps in the country
  • Good quality animals kept under good conditions
  • Stocks a large range of accessories
  • Knowledgeable and helpful owner who cares about the animals

Cons:

  • Customers sometimes have to wait for service as the owner as he can get very busy and normally he is the only person in the shop

  • Is quite dark in the shop and not always completely as clean and tidy as it could be

"I know Neil and I can never fault his husbandry or his passion, I have mentioned that I also think his shop is a little too dark!!  You need camo belts and a bergen on and you would feel right at home!!  LOL
 
His animals are always top notch and his advice is freely given with no hidden agenda's.  I had a Burmese die on me and he went out of his way to help organise an autopsy as the death was sudden. It was a problem with the heart, supposed jelly sac around the heart that weakened it!!?
 
Anyway if I lived closer I would visit more frequently!!"
