Biography

This is the bio page for Eur Ing Paul Parkinson BSc(Hons) CEng CITP MBCS MIET.

I obtained a BSc(Hons) II(i) in Computer Science from the University of Manchester in 1992. After graduation, I worked for GPT (now part of Ericsson) developing UNIX software and device drivers for VME systems used in digital switching networks. In 1994, I moved to Blue Wave Systems (now part of MCG), and spent six years working on multiprocessor DSP systems as a software developer and Field Applications Engineer (FAE) supporting a number of telecoms and defence applications (including radar and sonar).

Paul Parkinson in Eurofighter Typhoon at Farnborough Air Show In 2000, I joined Wind River, and in my current role as Senior Systems Architect, act as an Aerospace & Defence specialist for the UK & South Africa, and VxWorks MILS specialist for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

I have also attained professional membership of the IET (MIET) and the British Computer Society (MBCS), as well as holding Chartered Engineer (CEng) and European Engineer (Eur Ing) status.

I have written a number of papers, technical articles and journal columns relating to my professional interests which include Information Security (InfoSec), high-integrity and safety-critical systems, Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) and Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV). Many of these can be downloaded from the publications page. I also have a blog (web journal) on A&D industry issues on the Wind River blog network.
