July 2nd 2006 is the date set for the next charity event taking place on Seething Airfield. Wings, Wheels and Fun will bring together local communities and charities for a day of fundraising, with local pilots flying in and vintage vehicle owners being invited to display their cars, jeeps, Harleys – whatever their pride and joy happens to be. Once again, the green will be packed with stalls, displays, competitions and taking centre stage will be the ‘Super Swing Big Band’. The show is being organised by members of the Tower Museum Association, the Chet Valley Model Club and the flying club. You can catch up with developments here, with participant information once they have been confirmed.

"LARS" and a "CTR" for Norwich
Sept 15th 20:43 A proposal to establish controlled airspace around Norwich Airport is being discussed by the airports authorities. With a marked increase in commercial passenger traffic over the last few years and with growth expected to continue, the authorities have identified a need to enhance passenger safety. A control zone will need to be established – class “D” airspace requiring private pilots to obtain special VFR clearance.

As RAF Coltishall closes in 2006, all air traffic services could operate from Norwich. A “LARS” service may be available to pilots, replacing the service offered from the military air base.

Private Pilots Descend on RAF Marham
Aug 24th 21:02 Its not often private pilots have the opportunity to fly into an air force base, but two Seething pilots did just that – by invitation from RAF Marham. Jonathan Howes and Graham Wright flew the clubs Piper Archer over to Marham in July as participants in the aero clubs annual fly-in and young eagles day. Although the weather wasn’t perfect and visibility less than ideal, around 30 other pilots from across East Anglia dropped in to some great hospitality from their hosts. Pilots and their passengers were encouraged to sit inside one of the RAF's Tornado jets and inspect the various instruments, dials and levers.
