Solutions to the anagram titles are given below. The music is read using the clef indicated.
Come See the Ogres Quench Iron - Handel, treble clef
Ape Van - Faure, treble clef
Tenor Vocal Cry - traditional, treble clef
Otis Wing, Stow Car Wheel - traditional, bass clef
Eardrum Ouvre Onset - Schubert, treble clef
Len's Bell Jig - Pierpont, treble clef
This set is different to the previous three in that it is possible to come up with a 'correct order' of squares - one that will produce the well-known tune alluded to in the anagram title. This set could be very useful for instrumental teachers as a sight-reading tool. I would suggest that the player still tries out different possibilities (both in the ordering and in dynamics, articulation etc), and perhaps even tries playing the squares with an ensemble.
Come See the Ogres Quench Iron = See the Conquering Hero Comes
Ape Van = Pavane
Tenor Vocal Cry = Coventry Carol
Otis Wing, Stow Car Wheel = Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Eardrum Ouvre Onset = Rosamunde Overture
Len's Bell Jig = Jingle Bells
