Pattison College   Coventry
School History

Pattison College was established in 1949 by Betty Pattison to provide full time education for talented pupils wishing to make a career of the theatre. Over the years the emphasis has changed somewhat . There is still plenty of opportunity for pupils interested in Dance, Drama and Music but parents can also see the educational advantages of sending their children to a small school - only 150 pupils aged 3 - 16 years - and of not having to change school.

The College was originally housed in two large converted houses, one with classrooms and the other with studios.

In the intervening years, a Church of England primary school became the Prep School and a modern multi-purpose hall has been built.

Miss Pattison has been Principal since the school's inception. In 1994 her daughter, Mrs Elizabeth McConnell, a graduate of Goldsmith's College, London and a former pupil, who has taught French in the school since 1982, was appointed Joint Principal and over the years has taken on full responsibility for the running of the school.

In September 2003 Mrs McConnell was appointed Head Teacher on the retirement, after 40 years at Pattisons, of Mrs Janet Satchwell.
