Heavy Metal And related Genres
	What exactly is the metal genre nowadays? It appears to have originated as "Heavy Metal" I guess - from "Progressive" or "Prog", with in some cases "screamed" vocals.The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath could be cited as early examples, the latter with more insistent and modulated type guitar work - Like "Paranoid" for instance

Heavy Metal - Death Metal -Black Metal -Thash Metal - Speed Metal - Glam Metal - Rap Metal - There are many more! The genre certainly is not Rusty Metal yet!

Links with EMO - like the scream vocal style. Also links with punk (obviously) and Goth.

Current bands. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden Metallica and others still continue. It even hit Eurovison! Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir Blind Guardian and HammerFall are all European examples. It is particularly strong in Scandinavia and Germany.

Most of the links here are from Jesse, 18 in Baltimore USA who is a big fan of the genre. Beckonsale are c/o Tom, a colleague.

History - Guess it dates back to advanced electric guitar playing - effects pedals etc. Blues Rock and Psychedelic rock were early terms used.

Thursday a second post-hardcore suggestion from pshooter. They are from New Brunswick New Jersey, formed 1997.	Myspace Includes recent tracks and others fron earlier albums. There are 5 full albums so far. All on different labels! Full Discography on website.	They are more melodic now, but do retain the scream vocal style used at times. There are 6 in the band at present.

EscapeTheFate	There is a link between this band and Bless The Fall - Craig Mabbitt. Both Jesse and Tom rate Craig very highly! Craig took over as singer when the original, Ronnie Radke managed to end up in prison!

A Day to Remember (commonly abbreviated to ADTR) is a five-piece post-hardcore band, originally from Ocala, Florida. Signed to Victory Records, they are often said to have influences in many other genres other than post-hardcore, including pop punk, metalcore, and even melodic death metal. The band’s music has been described as “mixing death metal grunts with the brash melodies of pop-punk,” and a cross between “bouncy pop punk chugging metalcore.”

Very sound trio - They have also gone down very well in Japan. Blink 182 are an obvious influence.
