AN JENEM TAG (German)
(Those Were the Days)
Words by (H. Korn)
courtesy of Jurgen Hucksted

AQUELLOS FUERON LOS DIAS
Gene Raskin / Doris Band

(French)
(Those Were the Days)
Words by Eddy MARNEY
Courtesy of Jurgen Hucksted

On ignorait la peur
Les lendemains avaient un goût de miel
Ton bras tenait mon bras

Ton bras tenait mon bras

Goodbye
Lennon McCartney

Please don't wake me up too late
Tomorrow comes and I will not be late
Late today when it becomes tomorrow
I will leave to go away

Goodbye (Goodbye) Goodbye (Goodbye)
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye

Songs that lingered on my lips
Excite me now, and linger on my mind
Leave your flowers at my door
I'll leave them for the one who waits behind

Goodbye (Goodbye) Goodbye (Goodbye)
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye
Goodbye (Goodbye) Goodbye (Goodbye)
Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye

Far away my lover sings a lonely song
And call me to his side
When the song of lonely love invites me on
I must go to his side

If you love me (I wont care)
Music M Monnet, french Lyrics Edith Piaf
English lyrics G Parsons

IF THE SUN SHOULD TUMBLE FROM THE SKY IF THE SEA SHOULD SUDDENLY RUN DRY, IF YOU LOVE ME REALLY LOVE ME LET IT HAPPEN I WON'T CARE.

IF IT SEEMS THAT EVERTHING IS LOST, I WILL SMILE AND NEVER COUNT THE COST, IF YOU LOVE ME, REALLY LOVE ME LET IT HAPPEN DARLING I WON'T CARE

SHALL I CATCH A SHOOTING STAR, SHALL I BRING IT WHERE YOU ARE IF YOU WANT ME TO I WILL. YOU CAN SET ME ANY TASK, I'LL DO ANYTHING YOU ASK, IF YOU'LL ONLY LOVE ME STILL

WHEN AT LAST OUR LIFE ON EARTH IS THROUGH I WILL SHARE ETERNITY WITH YOU. IF YOU LOVE ME, REALLY LOVE ME THEN WHATEVER HAPPENS I WON'T CARE

Knock Knock who's there
Geoff Stephens & John Carter

TEARS OF RAIN RUN DOWN MY WINDOW PANE, I'M ON MY OWN AGAIN GOOD EVENING SORROW, SIT AND DREAM OF HOW THINGS MIGHT HAVE BEEN, AND AS I CLOSE MY EYES I GET THE STRANGEST FEELING........

CHORUS:KNOCK KNOCK WHO'S THERE ? COULD THIS BE LOVE THATS CALLING, THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN WIDE... KNOCK KNOCK WHO'S THERE ? NOW AS THE NIGHT IS FALLING TAKE OFF YOUR COAT AND COME INSIDE.

CLIMB THE STAIR AND THEN I SAY A PRAYER FOR SOMEONE WHO COULD SHARE MY SITUATION, BUT INSTEAD AS I LAY DOWN MY HEAD I HAVE TO LEAVE IT ALL TO MY IMAGINATION..

CHORUS: KNOCK KNOCK ETC

I'm Going to fall in love again
Cyril Ornadel & Hal Shaper

I'M NOT ONE TO FALL ON MY FACE , THE MOMENT THAT WE FALL OUT, YOU COULD SAY MY ATTITUDE IS I KNOW WHAT LIFES ABOUT, SO IF WE TRY AND THINGS GO WRONG I'LL STILL BE GLAD WE MET, BUT I'M GOING TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN THE VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET, HMM... VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET.

I KNOW SOME WHO ARE GLOOMY AND GLUM WHENEVER LOVE DISAPPEARS, BUT HAPPINESS IS A BEAUTIFUL THING AND BETTER BY FAR THAN TEARS, IF LOVE SHOULD DIE I'D HEAVE A SIGH AND LEAVE WITH SOME REGRET. BUT I'M GOING TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN THE VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET.

IF ALL THE TEARS THAT WOMEN HAVE SHED WERE LAID ON A RAILROAD TRACK I'D SAY AT A GUESS WELL MORE OR LESS THEY'D REACH TO THE MOON AND BACK, SO IT ISN'T AS THOUGH I'D THINK THAT YOU'D BE EASY TO FORGET, BUT I'M GOING TO FALL IN LOVE THE VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET. HMMM...VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET.

SO IT'S NO DISGRACE TO FALL ON YOUR FACE IF SOMEBODY LETS YOU DOWN. DON'T BE THE KIND TO WASTE YOUR TIME WEARING A GREAT BIG FROWN. SO IF WE FIND THAT THINGS GO WRONG ALTHOUGH I'D BE UPSET, I'M GOING TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN THE VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET. HMMM.................VERY FIRST CHANCE I GET

Lord of the Reedy River
Donovan Leitch

SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH A SWAN HER EYES WERE FILLED WITH FEATHERS, HE FILLED HER WITH SONG, IN THE REEDY RIVER, IN THE REEDY RIVER,

SHE IN HER BOAT LONG HOURS, HE IN HIS ROYAL PLUMAGE, SHE THREW HIM SOME FLOWERS, IN THE REEDY RIVER, IN THE REEDY RIVER,

BLACK WAS THE NIGHT AND STARRY, SHE LOOSENED UP HER GARMENTS AND LET FALL HER HAIR..IN THE REEDY RIVER, IN THE REEDY RIVER,

SADLY THEY MOAN AND SIGH, WHILST IN EVENING TWILIGHT, TWO SWANS GLIDE AND FLY, O'ER THE REEDY RIVER. O'ER THE REEDY RIVER.... SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH A SWAN

Let my name be sorrow
Martine Habib & Bernard Estardy

WHEN I WATCH YOU SADLY GOING WHEN ALL YOU CAN SAY IS NO, LET MY NAME BE SORROW LET MY NAME BE SORROW.

WHEN I LONG TO SEE YOU SMILING WHEN YOUR FEAR JUST WON'T LET GO, LET MY NAME BE SORROW, LET MY NAME BE SORROW.

WHEN THE DAWN IS SOFTLY SHOWING DARKNESS LINGERS ON YOUR BROW, LET MY NAME BE SORROW, LET MY NAME BE SORROW.

WHEN THE ROSES WE WERE GROWING, LOSE THEIR PETALS ONE BY ONE, LET MY NAME BE SORROW, LET MY NAME BE SORROW.

ONCE WE HAD LAUGHS AS BIG AS LIES, WE HAD LIES AS SWEET AS YOU, TILL ONE MORNING FOR US TWO ALL WAS OVER........

Love is the sweetest thing
Ray Noble

LOVE IS THE SWEETEST THING, WHAT ELSE ON EARTH COULD EVER BRING, SUCH HAPPINESS TO EVERYTHING, THAN LOVES OLD STORY

LOVE IS THE GREATEST THING, THE OLDEST YET THE LATEST THING,
I ONLY HOPE THAT FATE CAN BRING, LOVES STORY TO YOU

LOVE IS THE SWEETEST THING

Happiness Runs

(the pebble and the man)
Donovan Leitch

LITTLE PEBBLE UPON THE SAND NOW YOUR LYING HERE IN MY HAND, HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU BEEN HERE, LITTLE HUMAN UPON THE SAND WHERE I'M LYING HERE IN YOUR HAND, YOU TO ME ARE BUT A PASSING BREEZE.

THE SUN WILL ALWAYS SHINE WHERE YOU STAND, DEPENDING IN WHICH LAND YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF NOW YOU HAVE MY BLESSING GO YOUR WAY....

LA LA LA.....

HAPPINESS RUNS IN A CIRCULAR MOTION, FALTERS LIKE A LITTLE BOAT UPON THE SEA, ALL OUR SOULS ARE DEEPER THAN YOU CAN SEE, YOU CAN HAVE EVERYTHING IF YOU LET YOUR SELF BE. EVERYBODY IS A PART OF ANYTHING ANYWAY YOU CAN HAVE EVERYTHING IF YOU LET YOUR SELF BE .....

HAPPINESS RUNS, HAPPINES RUNS, HAPPINESS RUNS, HAPPINESS RUNS

HAPPINESS RUNS IN A CIRCULAR MOTION, FALTERS LIKE A LITTLE BOAT UPON THE SEA, ALL OUR SOULS ARE DEEPER THAN YOU CAN SEE, YOU CAN HAVE EVERYTHING IF YOU LET YOUR SELF BE

LA LA LA .....LET YOURSELF BE.

For All My Days
J Fishman & R Budd

FOR ALL MY DAYS IN MANY WAYS I'LL THINK OF ALL I'VE LIVED TO SEE, THE MOUNTAINS HIGH, CLOUDS IN THE SKY, I THANK THE LORD FOR SHARING THEM WITH ME.

THE SUMMERS GLOW THE WINTERS SNOW ARE NOT TO ME JUST SCENERY, WHEN TREE TOPS SWAY I LONG TO SAY OH THANK YOU LORD FOR SHARING THEM WITH ME...

LIFE I BELIEVE, LOVE WE RECEIVE WE SHOULD'NT TAKE TO CASUALY, FOR ALL MY DAYS IN MANY WAYS, I'LL THANK THE LORD FOR SHARING THEM WITH ME..

Heritage
B Gallagher & G Lyle

I WISH I HAD A SONG TO SING TO TAKE YOUR TEARS AWAY AND SEE THE SMILE COME CREEPING BACK INTO YOUR EYES.

IF I HAD A DREAM TO BRING TO SEE YOU THROUGH YOUR DAY AND KEEP YOU WHILE YOUR SLEEPING, I'D PUT IT BY YOUR SIDE.

IF WE COULD ONLY STEAL TOMORROW AND PUT IT IN YOUR LIFE, THEN I'D BE SATISFIED,

CLOSE YOUR EYES MY DARLING, NEVER FEAR THE NIGHT BE SURE I'LL BE BESIDE YOU, TILL THE MORNING LIGHT, AND EVERY DAY A NEW MISTAKE GOD KNOWS WE NEED THE SIGHT, BUT STILL I TRY TO GUIDE YOU BE IT WRONG OR RIGHT, IF WE COULD ONLY STEAL TOMORROW AND PUT IT IN YOUR LIFE THEN I'D BE SATISFIED

BUT ALL I HAVE ARE THOUGHTS TO BORROW I'LL PLACE THEM IN YOUR HAND AND HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND.

The Fields of St. Etienne
B Gallagher & G Lyle

THROUGH THE FIELDS OF ST ETIENNE AMIDST THE CORN I WANDER, IN MY HAND A EAR OF CORN THE MORNING DUE HAS KISSED. HERE BENEATH THESE SKIES I LAY WITH MY LOVER WHILE THE SUMMER WINDS GATHER CLOUDS OF WAR,

AU REVOIR MY LOVE THOUGH THE REASONS PASS ME WHY WE CANT REMAIN IN THE FIELDS OF ST ETIENNE.

WAVING PROUDLY, SINGING LOUDLY, BEING YOUNG AND FOOLISH, HE WAS GOING NEVER KNOWING HE WOULD NOT RETURN, SINGING SONGS OF WAR FILLED WITH GOD AND COUNTRY MARCHING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THE BOYS THAT DAY,

AU REVOIR MY LOVE, THOUGH THE REASONS PASS ME WHY WE CANT REMAIN IN THE FIELDS OF ST ETIENNE.

REPEAT..

Jefferson
B Gallagher & G Lyle

SUMMERS GONE AND THE LEAVES ARE FALLING, JEFFERSON, JEFFERSON OVER HEAD SUMMER GEESE ARE CALLING, SOUTHWARD BOUND FLYING OVER MY HOME

DISTANT TRAIN MAKES MY THOUGHTS RETURN TO JEFFERSON, JEFFERSON I CAN HEAR YOUR NAME AS THE WHEELS ARE TURNING SOUTHWARD BOUND GOING DOWN TO MY HOME

GOING DOWN TO JEFFERSON, MANY TIMES I'VE MADE THIS TRIP ON MY OWN, GOING DOWN TO JEFFERSON ON MY CONSTANT WINGS OF THOUGHT I WAS BORN.

AUTUMNS FALLING AS HE IS RISING ON JEFFERSON, JEFFERSON, LEAVES ARE TUMBLING DOWN WHEN I ARRIVE IN JEFFERSON, HOME IS WHERE I BELONG

GOING DOWN TO JEFFERSON, MANY TIMES I'VE MADE THIS TRIP ON MY OWN, GOING DOWN TO JEFFERSON ON MY CONSTANT WINGS OF THOUGHT I WAS BORN.

SUMMERS GONE AND THE LEAVES ARE FALLIING JEFFERSON, JEFFERSON, OVERHEAD SUMMER GEESE ARE CALLING SOUTHWARD BOUND, TAKE ME BACK TO MY HOME, HOME...........

Kew gardens
Ralph McTell

THE AIR WAS COOL ON LILY POOLS, HAZY LAZY, AND HERE AND THERE HE'D STOP TO STARE ADMIRING ALL THE FLOWERS, WANDERING ROUND FOR HOURS.

THE SUN WAS WARM ACROSS THE LAWN SCENTED BLKENDED HE SAW HER LINGER AND WITH HER FINGER OPEN UP A ROSE, STANDING ON TIP TOES

SUDDENLY THE RAIN CAME FLURRYING, SENDING THE TWO OF THEM SCURRYING, HELTER SKELTER FOR THE SHELTER AND FEELING BOLDER IN THE BIG PAGODA, HE GENTLY ENQUIRED HER NAME, AND THEY WAITED TILL THE SUNSHINE CAME.

KEW GARDENS

AND FOR A WHILE THE GRIFFIN SMILED, KINDLY, BLINDLY, TILL THE EVENING BELL BROKE THE SPELL, AND SADLY THEY SAID GOODBYE AND ONE OF THE GRIFFINS CRIED.

LONTANO DAGLI OCCHI
English translation
"Far from the eyes"

WHATS THE MATTER? THERE IS SOMETHING COLD IN THE AIR, THAT WINTER IS NOT, WHATS THE MATTER ? CHILDREN PLAY NO LONGER IN THE STREET THIS EVENING.

I DO NOT KNOW WHY, THE CHEERFULNESS OF MY FREINDS DOES NOT AMUSE ME ANYMORE... ONE TOLD ME THAT FAR FROM THE EYES FAR FROM MY HEART.

AND YOU ARE FAR FROM ME, FOR ONLY ONE WHO COMES BACK AND GIVES ME A ROSE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HHAVE FORGOTTON ME.

I KNOW NOW WHAT IS THIS BITTER SAVOUR WHICH REMAINS OF YOU, WHEN YOU ARE FAR AND I KNOW NOT WHERE YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU ARE DOING OR WHERE YOU ARE GOING, I KNOW NOT WHY.

I CAN NOT IMAGINE ANYMORE THE SMILE WHICH IS IN YOUR EYES, WHEN YOU ARE NOT WITH ME

I APOLOGISE TO ANY ITALIANS OUT THERE WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH THIS SONG IF IT IS INCORRECT, ANYONE WHO KNOWS BETTER I WOULD BE GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU....!

Lontano Dagli Occhi

Lirazel
Johnson / Knight

Music from the wind and trees,
And breezes through the moss and grass,
At last the dance should soon begin in Elfland.
Buttercups that hide in shade
Have kissed the blade of grass they passed
The toadstool feels afool, he has his hat on.

Bouncing, prancing, foolish dancing,
Trolls decide to run and hide
Then back to back, they're back again bewildered
Without delay, it's light to play
To turn about and twist and shout
Hand in hand, the trolls resist an Elf-call.

The trolls are all dancing to their melody, so ugly,
Falling all over themselves,
Thinking themselves to be devilish elves.
The soldiers of Elfland are standing at ease, easy to please
Watching the trolls fall asleep,
I ask them all to get back on their feet.

Music comes from everywhere,
The earth below, the glow from worms
That turn in time to chiming fairy acorns.
Dandelions, pretty heather,
Stand together proud to share
The air that sings the music that it brings us.

Travellers from far unknown
Have blown the shells of twilight blue,
I think they knew full well we would be dancing.
A troll decides to wake as fairy
Winds pretend that they are things
And make the trolls a dancing tune to prance to.

And soon all the trolls are awake, devilish, all gibberish
Asking the soldiers to dance with them, prance with them,
Beat on their drums to the dance of the day
Thousands of creatures are clapping and laughing
The elves and the goblins join with us, sing with us
Brighter the wind as the fiddlers play.

Beyond The Fields We Know
Johnson / Knight

Beyond the fields we know
There's a fine and shining line
And some day we will go
Where there is neither tide nor time.
Twilight falls on marble halls,
Silver spires that touch the sun,
Golden horns that faintly blow,
Beyond the fields we know,
Beyond the fields we know

Beyond the fields we know,
There's a palace made of songs
And some day we will go
Where there is neither right nor wrong.
Like the leaves, we'll ride the breeze
Through the blue until we see
Those Elfin mountains all aglow
Beyond the fields we know,
Beyond the fields we know

LION TAMER
Music and Words by Stephen Schwartz

I'd like to be a lion tamer,
Sequins and tights and silk top hats.
I know I could be a lion tamer,
I've always gotten along with cats.
I'd have a whip but never use it,
I'd simply hold it in my hand.
I want to be a lion tamer,
If I could be a lion tamer,
I would be someone grand.

I couldn't be a ballerina,
I never could stand on my toes.
I couldn't be a Spanish dancer,
I'd look ridiculous with a rose.
But everyone has a special calling,
Something that only he can do.
I could be such a lion tamer,
If I could be a lion tamer,
I would be special, too.

I could begin with baby leopards,
Move on to tiger cubs and then...
After I learn to handle lions,
Maybe I could work up to men...

I never wanted fancy mansions,
Butlers and footmen liveried.
I never wanted lots of money,
Money can't buy what I really need.
I never prayed for any favors,
But here I am on knobby knee.
Please let me be a lion tamer,
If I could be a lion tamer,
Wouldn't he have to
Finally
Notice me.

EARTH SONG
Liz Thorsen

I have climbed your crystal mountain,
and I have walked up and down your highways,
I have walked up and down your highways,
and it's a long, long time I've been wondering,
where it is that I am going.

I have seen your sun's reflection,
and I have built a boat to catch it on the water,
to catch it on the water,
and it's a long, long time I've been wondering,
what it is that I resemble.

We have gathered all together,
and we have surely loved one another,
we have surely loved one another,
and it's a long, long time we've been waiting,
for your secret night song.

Oh show me your simplicity,
and I may find you are a part of me,
and I am a part of you,
and I'm afraid, I'm afraid of your big wide rolling ocean,
oh but I want to be invisible.

I have climbed your crystal mountain,
and I have walked up and down your highways,
I have walked up and down your highways,
and it's a long, long time I've been wondering,
where it is that I am going.

How Come the Sun

by Tom Paxton and D. Horowitz

How come the sun didn't make it today?
Is it tired of what it's been shining down on?
Could it be God didn't wake it today?
You couldn't blame him.
Sometimes it feels like the sun just comes up out of habit,
And goes down as quick as it can.
These days you just have to grab it as it goes by.

How come the stars didn't come out tonight?
Are they tired of what they've been shining down on?
Could it be God had a few doubts tonight?
You couldn't blame him.
Sometimes it seems like the stars are just going through motions.
They don't see the point of it all.
They shine, shine, but you get the notion, they wonder why.

Maybe the sun saw everyone pulling his neighbor's hair
He couldn't rise without the skies filling with filthy air.
Do you suppose that he knows?
That he knows, but he won't tell us.

How come the Moon just wont rise up and shine?
Is it tired of what it's been shining down on?
Could it be God couldn't make up his mind?
You couldn't blame him,
Sometimes it feels like the Moon's heart just isn't in it.
It give less than all of its light.
It shines, shines, but just when it's greatest, it starts to die

How come the sun didn't make it today?
Is it tired of what it's been shining down on?
Could it be God didn't wake it today?
You couldn't blame him.
Sometimes it feels like the sun just comes up out of habit,
And goes down as quick as it can.
These days you just have to grab it as it goes by.

Coming of The Roads

Now that our mountain is growing with people hungry for wealth
How come it's you that's a-going
and I'm left all alone by myself?
We used to hunt the cool caverns deep in our forest of green
Then came the road and the tavern and you found a new love it seems

Once I had you and the wildwood, now it's just dusty roads
And I can't help but blamin' your going
On the coming, the coming of the roads

Look how they've cut all to pieces our ancient redwood and oak
And the hillsides are stained with the greases
That burned up the heavens with smoke

You used to curse the bold crewmen
who stripped our earth of its ore
Now you've changed and you've gone over to them
And you've learned to love what you hated before

Once I thanked God for my treasure, now like rust it corrodes
And I can't help but blamin' your goin'
On the coming, the coming of the roads.

Once I thanked God for my treasure, now like rust it corrodes
And I can't help but blamin' your goin'
On the coming, the coming of the roads.

And I can't help but blamin' your goin'
On the coming, the coming of the roads.

LISTEN TO THE OCEAN
(Nina Moller & Frederik Pallandt)
Although not recorded in English by
Mary its added to the page as I get a lot of requests
for the translation from Welsh

There's a world of sun and sand
Full of sky and far from land
Where evening breezes caress the shore
Like a gentle comforting hand
Fragrant blossoms, honey bees
Careless laughter upon the breeze
And lovers fading to pools of deep
Purple shadows among the trees

Listen to the ocean, echoes of a million seashells
Forever it's in motion
Moving to a rhythmic and unwritten music
That's played eternally

The sound of a seagull's distant cry
His wings like parentheses drawn in the sky
And two white birds clinging like foam
To the crest of a wave rolling by
The silence of noon, the clamour of night
The heat of the day when the fish won't bite
These are the things that remind me of
The day you sailed out of sight

Listen to the ocean, echoes of a million seashells
Forever it's in motion
Moving to a rhythmic and unwritten music
That's played eternally
