STATUS
This is the old line, included for historical purposes.
Apologies, I've temporarily lost the pictures.
A view up The Fiddle. (That again is the name of the road) from its south end, where it joins The Forty and Chelworth Road.
The Canal line is under or behind the houses on the right.
A view further up The Fiddle. The line still to the right among the houses.
The south portal of the tunnel must have been somewhere on the right here.
P>
The old line of the Canal crossed the road somewhere around where the roundabout is; the spot height is shown as 87 metres, 5.91 metres above water level.
Behind me where I am standing here, there are a few houses along the north side of the road.
The Canal emerges from its tunnel somewhere north of Common Hill and runs in a cutting up to Stones Lane; or possibly continues in a tunnel under Stones Lane.
There is no right of way over either the old or the new line.
From the southern end, you can walk up The Fiddle, then cross over Common Hill.Over the road, West Mill Lane follows the old line more or less to its end; the Canal is on the west (left) side as you walk down.
None in the area.
