Watercolours Portfolio

Watercolour allows both rapid execution and a wide range of techniques, from spontaneous flows and merger of colours wet on wet to tightly controlled strokes. I consciously avoid using white and use the whiteness of the paper instead. In the same way, I avoid using black or grey that deadens colours.

Light is the game, colour the rule. Transparent layers of pigments — glazed or applied side by side — drive the viewer toward the horizon. The lightest washes catch the eye and carve the space.
