Avebury is (with Stonehenge) one of the most important prehistoric temples in Britain. The stone circle was erected around 2400 BC and is now at the edge of the village.

I did this painting on site in August 2005. I started at 8:30 a. m. with only few sheeps around to discover, few hours later, that the place had been taken over by visitors…
