As I have practiced oil painting for many years and have completed many projects, most of which can be seen within these webpages, I have written and illustrated an art instruction book, entitled, Oil Paintings from your Garden.

My book, published by the Guild of Master Craftsman Publications Limited (2003), is 176 pages long and tells you everything you need to know about the practice of oil painting in your own back yard, from the absolute beginner to the advanced. It is full of step-by-step projects from the practice of alla prima, washes, sgraffito, impasto, imprimitura and glazing techniques. It outlines the materials required to get started, how to work on a budget, and to work in the comfort of your own home.

The pages are bursting with ideas and hints and tips and full colour illustrations, and I am charging a mere £6 including pp! (RRP is £16.99) Postage will vary for overseas destinations. I will happily sign the inside cover with a personal dedication.

Topics covered are: Health & Safety, all about the materials, keeping the cost down, introduction to oils, exercises for the beginner, setting yourself up in the garden, keeping it simple, greens, natural and the man-made objects, the changing light, flowers, harvest time, painting figures, care of the paintings and a gallery. Hints and tips are provided along the way, as well as many techniques.
