01 : The Injustice and Mistreatment of AoStH's Robotnik

SOMETHING rather upsetting about the version of Robotnik from the cartoon 'Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog' recently reached my attention. It started off with a fairly innocent (honest) search on Google that returned a page from the website of Milton Knight. Turns out this fellow is the mind behind the incarnation of Robotnik appearing in this cartoon! Now, as is to be expected, Robotnik was the best character in the programme as it was. However, the full extent of the brilliance surrounding Knight's original Robotnik plans were not lived up to! From his website:

"In addition to doing storyboards, background layout, and various other duties on this program (a DIC production), I also designed its own incarnation of Dr. Robotnik, who I had concieved (sic) as animation's sexiest fat man. ("Robotnik's buttocks weave sensuously", read one of my storyboard directions.)

"The overseas animators were rarely up to the challenge."

So. Mister Knight (I had a music teacher called Miss Knight once who used to wear the most outrageous and tacky shoes imaginable, and caked her face with seven drums of makeup so she looked like a man in drag. She used to take the piss out of my lousy singing too, horrid woman) tries to bring some light into the lives of women across the world, but those durn animators who are probably used to and completely unopposed to animating women with bouncy boobs or tentacle porn or whatever delightful forms of animated entertainment are popular amongst the raving fanboy nerds of today couldn't make the effort to allow a large man to be sexy? I am shocked and appalled! How hard can it be to animate a pair of buttocks 'weaving sensuously'? I do that in my head about 4 times a day. Most people say 'AoStH' was the worst of the Sonic cartoons, and now we know why! Clearly the lack of effort put in by the lazy animators shines through in the show and has a devastating effect on the overall quality!

It saddens me that society is not yet ready to appreciate that we ladies need an object for our fantasies!

However, this image accompanying the section on Knight's page certainly cheered me up:

"But remember Robotnik's inner tension. Whether angry or joyful, he is like a rubber band about to snap." That is poetry.
