Mid/66 RECORDINGS?: There
is no evidence these songs were ever recorded or if they were songs. In fact,
“Beatleologist” and "humorist” Martin Lewis "confessed" to starting
the rumor of their existence in 1971 as a prank similar to the "Paul is
dead" hoax. Other hoax songs were "Deckchair" and "Left
Is Right (And Right Is Wrong)".

faulty mike and he considered it a "bad performance". So the July

The Beatles start recording "Sgt. Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band" album, although "Strawberry Fields Forever"
and "Penny Lane" are pulled to become a needed single. This is the
first time the British and U.S. album versions are the same. It took 700 hours
to record as opposed to 585 minutes for the "Please Please Me" album.
The album, thought to be the greatest of the rock era, received one Grammy.
Recording engineer Geoff Emerick received it for "Best Engineered Album".

firebell?, Ringo on the handbell?, George Martin on the piano, David Mason,
Leon Calvert, Freddy Clayton, Bert Courtley, Duncan Campbell and David Mason
on the trumpets and the flugelhorn, Mason on the trumpet solo, Ray Swinfield,
P. Goody, Manny Winters and Dennis Walton on the flutes and the piccolos, Dick
Morgan and Mike Winfield on the oboes and the cor anglais and Frank Clarke on
the double-bass. The Beatles continue tinkering on the guitar and the piano
after the ending is recorded. When they stop, John says, "A suitable ending,
I think." The words "Penny Lane" were in the original "In
My Life" lyrics by John. This was the first Beatles’ record not to reach
#1. Initial pressings sent to DJs and played on the radio had an extra two-bar
phrase played by Mason in the final bars, closing the song in B major. (A combination
or remix of several takes was released on the "Anthology 2" CD) (An

It was recorded at the Regent Sound Studios, making this session the first EMI
Beatles’ recording session at a different London studio. Paul brings a man to
the session who claimed he was Christ. This was the only track on the album
NOT to have the bass dubbed in later, and a mistake is left on at 1:09. (No

(Written in 1967) This was first recorded as just an instrumental. John on
the maracas, Paul on the piano, George on the vibes, Ringo on the bongos, Mal
Evans on a spade in gravel and, once and for all, it WAS Brian Jones of the Rolling
Stones playing the alto sax. Paul McCartney definitely confirmed it in an interview.

background. George discovered it 30 years later and gave it to director Joe

added three months later. (Remix takes were bootlegged. Take 2 was released on
the “Anthology 2” CD. The CD booklet says this song was recorded on 2/3/68. Abbey
Road logs contradict this. It is an obvious mistake, which is put correctly
in " Past Masters Vol. Two" booklet. The same take was re-worked
in March 1970 by Phil Spector for "Let It Be" album. He omitted some
instruments, sound effects, slowed it down and added orchestra and choir.) A
