While performing at the Mississippi/Alabama Fair and Dairy Show in Tupelo, Mississippi, the Mississippi governor presents Elvis with a “Welcome Home” proclamation certificate. Then the mayor of Tupelo gives Elvis the key to the city, which is in the shape of a guitar. In the evening performance, Elvis pleads with people to sit down so others can see and so people don’t get hurt. Some unknown songs are recorded, besides “Don’t Be Cruel”. Elvis quips, “When you come out to see us like this, it just makes a big ole’ lump in our billfold…er..throat.” The announcer tries to quiet people down to give away a car. Elvis pretty much runs the show, suggesting or starting songs and is harmonized by Lewis and Perkins, although they occasionally sing a few lines at Elvis’ prompting. One of the highlights of the tape is Elvis telling the others about seeing one of Wards Dominoes (in fact it was Jackie Wilson) imitating him in Las Vegas. Elvis then imitates Jackie Wilson imitating Elvis. Elvis also sings a version of “Paralyzed”, (song he'd already recorded), in the style of Wilson. There are really only about ten complete songs done.
