My Shack

This section is developing as I rebuild the station!  A space has been set aside in the loft which gives easy access for antenna runs.

The layout

HF

Icom IC-718

HF transceiver

MFJ-902 ATU

A very small ATU which covers 80-10m.  It does not have an in-built SWR meter so you have to use either the one in the rig or a separate one.

G5RV

Half size version which runs from the front corner of the house to the end of the garage.  This is not ideal but will have to do for just now.

Trio 9R-59D

I picked up this vintage receiver at a car boot sale in the Midlands about 15 years ago.  Not very great by modern standards but it’s OK after the valves have warmed up!

Junker D.B.G.M. straight key

This is a superb, heavy straight telegraph key produced by a German company.  I got mine as a gift from my wife’s uncle (G4JIZ – Jesse) before he died.

this isn’t mine (I’ll take a picture of it soon)

VHF

Trio TR7730

2m       FM      25W

I bought this small rig at the Scottish Amateur Convention at Cardonald College in the 1980s.

Watson W30

2m / 70cm        Collinear

This is a nice light vertical base station antenna which is mounted on the side of the house.  It could do with being a bit higher up but for now I can get in to GB3CS and GB3AY easily with 5W.
