HOW TO
FIND US |
Some more info............ |
The bikes |
Cycle speedway bikes are specialist machines
with no gears or brakes and sweptback handlebars
so your own bike will not be suitable for going
round the track. We will lend you a bike and
have a range to suit all sizes. |
The racing |
Races are four laps long counter
clockwise, that's turning left! around our 70
metre track and last about 50 seconds. A
reasonable level of fitness is required. Contact
between riders is allowed but not much bumping
and barging happens on training nights. As you
will be new we will give you plenty of room if
you decide to race. |

Info for parents............ |
Parents can be safe in the knowledge that their
children would be involved in a healthy &
beneficial sporting and recreational activity
organised by a child friendly club that is
affiliated to
British Cycling, the national governing body
for cycle sport. Leicester CSC is a
Go-Ride
club. We have a club welfare officer & trained &
insured British Cycling coaches who have
attended good practice & child protection
workshops. Our club is safe, open to all & helps
to develop cycling skills that will encourage
continued participation in cycling at a
recreational & sporting level. |

Some of your
questions answered............ |
No brakes?! how do I stop? |
Stop pedalling, just freewheel
and you'll stop eventually. No one else has
brakes either so you shouldn't go into the back
of another rider slowing down. It will strange
without brakes at first but you will get used to
it. |
Are crashes frequent? |
Yes. It is likely that at some
point you will eat dirt! Injuries are usually
minor bruises and scrapes to the knees and
elbows. This is why riders must always wear a
helmet, gloves have arms and legs covered when
on the track. |
Do I need to be a club member to have a go? |
No. Tuesday night training
sessions are open to non club members. |
How old / young do you have to be to ride? |
You can be any age and come and
have a go at cycle speedway. We have members
from all categories from youths 8-13 to juniors
14-18 to seniors 18-40 to the veterans 40+ and
the grand veterans who are 50+ |
If I'm good will I be able to race for the
team? |
Hopefully yes. Their is a
limited amount of club members who can race in a team. The 8 best riders of the club are
picked for the first team then the next 8 best
riders are picked for the second team. At some
matches we could have four different teams
racing plus matches for junior riders who don't
make the team so most people should get to race.
We will do our best to make racing available to
all club members. |
What are the rules of racing? |
Here are the rules and
regulations.

Do you go down the pub after training? |
Yes sometimes a few of us go
down the local for a few pints and a game of
pool. I'm sure some people just turn up to
training so they can go to the pub! |
